If any of you guys are interested in the WTCC series, check out my pictures and video of the Brands Hatch race. I attended the race and got some cool shots and had a blast.

Cool pics Jason! Is this the result of your participation in that Simbin race series a while back?

Hutch:

Yeah, the trip was planned because I won a spot to race in the Semi-Final event at the Brands Hatch track. You can still qualify for the last of five Semi-Final events if you are interested - just go to the web site and get the info. If you get in the top 3 at any of the Semi-Finals, you can race in the Final at Monza later this year, where first prize is a Chevy HHR, 2nd prize is 4000 Euros (which are currently about 1.7 times the value of the US dollar) and 3rd prize is 3000 Euros. Of course, the sucky part is that they don't pay for your travel, so it makes it tough to get to the European tracks where these events are held.

It was a lot of fun. If you like WTCC racing, then I would recommend you try to qualify online for the Brand Cup races at least since they are all online. Even if you qualify for an onsite event from that, you don't have to go if you don't want to, but it's still fun racing with guys online from all over the world. Some of them are blisteringly fast too.

By the way, the CEO of Simbin was there and chatted with us a little - he said that GTR Evolution will be released in the US on August 15th, so we only have a few days to go! It is the next "version" of GTR2 and will be standalone or as an add-on to RACE07. You can check it out here if you have not already!

Wow, that's awesome Jason. How'd you place in the semi? Spend any time touring the countryside?

I'm quite impressed that Simbin is releasing a patch to Race that fixes the pit problems, whether you buy the add-on or not. That was a very good move on their part, gives people a lot of good will, and some motivation to buy the add-on.

Don't ask! I came in 12th out of 16. I was in a crash on lap 1 of race 1 and in race2 I went off too many times, giving away spots.

Simbin made a lot of changes with the latest patch, including the pitting, but I have not had a chance to try it out yet. I guess they must have felt they needed to improve the pitting if they are going to make it a GTR style game.
