I know this has been talked about before and I can't remember the outcome right now and can't remember where it was posted at so I am going to bring it up again. I strongly believe the server should be set up to allow you to just hit escape to get out of the race without having it pop up that little window that says something about going to monitor or cancel. Reason is because like what happened to me in tonights race. I was being passed by a lead lap car. I got a little loose with him below me and over corrected trying not to hit him. Well I hit the wall pretty hard and killed the engine. I hit escape thinking it would just cancel me out of the race but it popped up that window and here my car is rolling down the track with no control as I fumble around trying to right the exit to monitor button. I know there were a bunch of cars behind me and I hope that I didn't get in their way. I understand that I should have stirred the car to the apron and then hit escape but I was really expecting it to just dump me back into the monitor screen. I was on during practice earlier in the day and was able to that with no problem. I just think it is much easier to hit escape to get your car off the track instead of trying to stay out of peoples way while you try to get to the apron. Just my 2 cents. |

rFactor has the same thing which ARCA is heavily based off of. I think this feature tries to do more good than harm. It prevents you from accidentally hitting the ESC key during the race and bumping you back to the lobby screen. With this, if you hit it unpurpose, the worst thing that will happen is come up with a box asking if you really want to exit or keep going. I know the first time I came across this, it scared the shit out of me because I was sitting right in the middle of the track with cars racing around me, engine dead...and I was expecting to jump out immediately. Well that box came up and I frantically searched a way to get out. Couldn't figure it right that second so I just ctrl-alt-deleted out :D. Now I know to use the mouse for it... It's just a safety feature...not intended to be annoying. Get used to it and I am sure you'll see why it was put there ;) |

The confirmation box in ARCA is not something the server can eliminate. As much as I understand you don not want to take someone else out in a wreck... that is part of the excitement of oval racing... having to drive through the wall of smoke and pray there is no car on the other side. |

In your player profile under Game Options: Exit Confirmation="0" // 0=none, 1=race only, 2=always It's set to 1 by default. |

I just can not understand how you would actually hit the escape key while you were racing. I know for me that is a pretty good stretch to reach over and hit the escape key. You do have a good point Tim. Now I know and from now on I will be sure to get my car away from the track and out of harms way before hitting the escape key. I will have to try that Charles. |

Why didn't they just program it so that the ESC key would have to be held for more than a second for the game to actually retire you from the race? |
