I'm on the waiting list for the event at Portland International Raceway with the Porsche Club of America -- for June 20th.

I have a support crew and some local friends that might help out and a couple of other friends registered to drive in the event.

Gonna be a long drive for me (8-10 hours) just for one day, but was wondering if anyone else is going to this event?

I guess the PCA group in the Northwest region is a little less stuck up than the Northeast region. I own a Porsche, am a member of PCA and a corner worker for their club races, yet I'm still not permitted to drive my Mazda RX-7 in their DE events. Go figure.

No offense Mike, but I don't think I would want an RX-7 (unless it was a newer model year) mixing it up with Porsche's.

I've done way too many events with RX-7's ejecting exhaust parts that I don't wanna be on track when they go out. In several cases these parts have caused some serious damage and even injury.

I should dig up some of my video and post exactly what I mean. Not sure what it is with those rotary motors, but they seem to love to shed exhaust parts.

I understand where you are coming from. I too have got nervous following cars with the coffee can mufflers. My car isn't exactly pretty, but it is mechanically sound.

It isn't a big deal. There are many more track days available with other clubs than my wallet can afford. No loss.
