Anyone have opinions on whether one 32" would be better than three 19, 20, or 22 inch monitors with one of the matrox devices running them?

I'm guessing the panorama view would be more immersive.

for racing yes the 3 would be better, but for the whole computer experience including other games the 32 would be better.

Depends on the Sim.
GTR2's screen just gets stretched with the TH2GO.

Wonder if the next Simbin will have provisions for the matrox?

If I get the 32" I can use it for other things, like another TV. I'm running on a 42" plasma at 1368/760 right now and It looks great to me even though it sits about 2-3 ft above me and 6-8 feet in front of me, so a 32 inch right in front of me should still be more immersive than what I'm using now.

A single screen will be easier to use with the cockpit I'm using now as well, the 1.0 playseat.

I recently updated my sim-rig post. You will find some examples of the different resolutions between single and multi-monitor setups. May help you make your decision

One thing to consider is that the Matrox TH2Go setup does not necessarily support widescreen resolutions in-game. It will stretch the 3840x1024 res out to the 3X widescreens. It does not look bad though, but if you are picky you will notice it.

You may try to find some of the older 4:3 aspect monitors (Ebay is your friend) instead of the more modern widescreens. Also, no need in finding monitors that are higher then 1280x1024 native resolution either. Save the money as that is all that the TH2Go will support anyway (3 of those).

This all may be completely false with the newer Digital TH2Go now that I think about it. I have the first generation Analog version.

Even 3 19" monitors is 45" of horizontal view. Much larger then the 32" TV and not much higher of a cost now.

TripleHead2Go only supports 4:3 displays last I looked. More specifically, it only supports resolutions of 1024x768 or 1280x1024 for each head.

So, if you connect 16:9 displays the aspect ratio will be wrong (assuming you don't make it worse by having black side bars :-)

At this point you will also most likely be purchasing a display that has a different native resolution than one of the two above so that will impact quality as well.

I'm a big believer in three displays or three projectors for gaming but keep in mind there are issues with the Matrox solution as the display industry keeps going.

The real answer is game developer support for 3-way SLI using Multiview Mode (multi-pipe) with a head on each card but don't hold your breath for someone doing that properly.

3 22 inch wide-screens. Its the best sim racing investment I've ever made.

Yea Enis, it supports the widescreens fine in desktop, it is more of an issue in-game though. Scroll down the page you link and you can see the resolutions supported. The highest widescreen res is 768px height. If that is not your LCDs Native res, then things compound.

Looks like three 1280x1024 monitors are still the best way to go with the TH2Go, but I have seen it on three 24" widescreen (Jerry Kunzman has this setup) using the 4:3 resolutions... and even with the slight stretch it looks awesome.
