Well...if there's one thing that has surprised me about R2P, it would be this. I did not expect this at all and personally, i think its a GREAT idea! :)

I'm all against it if it cramps Finn's style. :P

This alliance certainly lends credibility not only to the R2P site and system, but to sim-racing in general!

I talked about my sim-racing career and exploits to anyone who would listen when I was at the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill (and on the plane on the way home!), and have even mentioned this and other sim-racing sites to a few guys who were sim-racers (and NASA members) themselves.

The cameraderie in the paddocks (and nearby bars!) of the handful of NASA events I've been fortunate enough to attend is much like what I've experienced as a sim-racer over the years - there's always someone willing to lend a hand, and people generally act like a big group of friends that have known each other for years, whether they actually have or not.

Congratulations to Tim & Todd and Jerry (et al) at NASA for this unprecedented partnership!

Oh dear. I hung my helmet, michael jackson racing gloves and my fancy racing shoes up 2 years ago in favor of my new found love of online sim racing. Now this alliance may pressure me to "unretire" that helmet, those shiny gloves and smelly shoes. COOL! :-)

NASA is a great group of gear heads. Heck any organization that lets me instruct for them MUST be either be top notch, or just plain CRAZY!tm. ;-)

OK guys, I don't know squat about this stuff other than betting my son I could kick his #$>& on GT3 and then do it for real at Laguna Seca.

Turned out he beat me in the game and I beat him ontrack . .

Real issue. Will we have accurate track simulations like Laguna Seca for our actual race tracks? Infinion, THill, Willow, Cal Speedway, BW and MO?

It would be so AWESOME to get my NASA HPDE students more accustomed to the tracks before and during their familiarization to real racing. This could be huge people!

Hi Mike,

Yes, I fully agree. Some of those track are very well re-created already. Others, like Sears Point (my home track) are not re-created well at all. Hopefully this is something I can help fix in the near future.

Hey Tim, thanks for the rapid response. What West Coast tracks are avaiable now and on what game platforms? I'm looking for Big Willow, Streets of Willow, Cal Speedway (ALMS and inside) and Butonwillow as these are our local SoCal venues.

Also anybody going to the Nationals would benefit greatly from Mid-Ohio. Anyone traveling north would need ThunderHill, Infinion, and Laguna Seca. Same logic for all the regional chapters.

If we put links to these accurate maps with links on the NASA and simsites it would benefit both the racers/HPDE and the R2P communities.

MD out

The only "good" California track is Laguna Seca for rFactor.

Mid Ohio for rFactor is great too

ThunderHill *needs* a good creation of it in a sim... for the 25-hour race practice alone!
