The R2PGDC is open to everyone who is willing to follow the R2P code of conduct and the following R2PGDC guidelines.

1. Participants who log on for one of our events will do so with the goals developing community, camaraderie and competency in that order.

2. There are no talent scouts watching, no prizes and no trophy girls. If you are the fastest or the slowest, no one cares. Really.

3. If you knock someone of the track in one of the counted lap sessions (Note – I did not use the word race). Find a safe place to pull off and wait for them. If either car is damaged, you will BOTH go to the pits together for repairs. This is akin to picking up a wrench/hammer/bat and helping each other fix the cars.(i.e. - Both cars may exit the pits when both cars are repaired.)

4. If you see someone who is not as fast as you, consider hanging back with them. If the both of you do not have more fun as a result of working/lapping together, one or both of you may not belong here.

5. If you find other drivers who want to turn up the competition level a bit, go for it. Think of this like sparing in fighting, so long as you and your partner(s) do not take out other people in the process, have at it.

This sort of thing is great for beginners as well. Maybe you want to push it a bit with someone you know is faster. Ask one of the faster drivers to spar with you. It will be a great way to learn and to feel the thrill of going wheel to wheel with someone. Faster guys – remember, times like this are not about you. It is about the slower person who is trying to learn.

6. Be patient, courteous and sportsman like at all times. If you're new to sim-racing, accept that and drive accordingly. Remember, being courteous doesn't mean you shouldn't drive competitively. It simply means that you do not do so at the potential expense of another person’s car or self esteem.

7. You are not (insert famous race driver name here). If you were, you'd be more than a sim racer. Keep perspective!

CREDITS: The R2PGDC gained inspiration from a great group of folks known as LoPeN with many of our guidelines stemming from a document originally written for GPL.

LoPeN?!?!?!

What a small world. I run the rF server for LoPeN.

I was just thinking that this chapter looked very very cool in its own right. I was planning on joining as I read all this, and the LoPeN reference is the clincher.

So... nice joint ya got here. Can't wait to see things get started. =)

Hey guys.

We are still in the set up phase of this chapter and I think I accidentally set something to public...DOH! Boy are we all in for it or what if I am screwing stuff up out of the box?

Yup, LoPen was definitely a piece of the inspirational pie for this. And as such, we decided that we needed to give credit where credit was due. Thus the reference and acknowledgment. I sincerely hope that all of you see some of the similarities as flattery, and nothing more. We are not out to take LoPeN members or steal your thunder. Your club, quite honestly, is a great idea and we feel that R2P members deserve a chance to enjoy the same sort of atmosphere.

BTW - I actually ran a race or two a few years ago with you guys. But I never really caught the GPL bug.

Anyway, the notes pretty much say it all. We are simply trying to create a no stress, no skill required place for sim racing enthusiast to hang out and talk about anything (clean). Think of it like the barbershop you went to on Saturday mornings only with computers and TeamSpeak.

R2PGDC will be a place for less serious sim racers, new comers, people with limited time to practice, people who do not care that much and folks that value fellowship above finishes place of there own.

(I may have just accidentally found our motto! Fellowship above finishes!)

We will start at the Autobahn country club and spend about a month or so there. This track will give complete R2P/sim racing newcomers a good cross section of corners and such to work on. Then, depending on the pulse of the group, we will move on to different circuits about every two weeks. Ideally, our R2PGDC members will take the positive attitude, values and skills learned in our chapter with them as they move on to higher levels of competition at R2P.

Hang in there guys, we should be up and running officially in just a short while.

I think this is a brilliant idea and depending on the times of your events I'll turn up to have some fun with you all!

I only joined LoPeN this past summer. They run GPL and rF, and I've only been running rF with them (tried out with GPL, but it's just not for me). I'm not the least bit concerned with this chapter competing with LoPeN, and I think the LoPeN folks would be happy to see their philosophy catching on elsewhere.

So that said, glad to see this place springing up. Really a great way to combine the resources, structure, player base, and visibility, with a low/no pressure format to balance out the intense competition side.

And we are really glad to see you guys here.

Right now, if we can get enough folks signed up, our first track day at the Autobahn will be the 17th of March.

As for time, we are looking to make this very friendly for east coasters and start practice at 8:30PM EST. Now, this said, if we get enough folks from outside the timezone, and we need to move it back a little, we will discuss it.

And sincerely, I really do hope the LoPen guys are glad to see this.

Well, as an east coaster, that works very well for me. Shuffling to fit westies if need be is no prob for me.

Oh, and unless there's another LoPeN'er here at R2P, I think I'm the only one to know. =)

I began my online Sim racing career with LoPeN a while back. The absolute best way to learn and get comfortable racing online. I'm still on the mailing list.

Howdy guys,

I have just joined this group....I think. Is there anything else I need to do before I join a race?
