Anyone have any suggestions on a regular desk chair. I'm getting lower back pain while racing. Most of the good chairs I see on Amazon are on wheels, I don't think that would be very stable. A cockpit is really not viable for me because the cpu is in my living room. Please help a guy with lower back pain out.

i did this to my desk chair.. you know how they rock back and forth, well i rocked it all the way back, and pined it back all the way with a screwdriver, not its allways at an angle. plus i built an angled stand for my pedals.

I actually do use a wheeled desk chair. This is not a problem if you're on carpet. It doesn't move around at all during racing. If you're on hardwood or another hard surface, it probably won't work. And this is true for both styles of driving I have, where I tend to sit straight up for stock car racing while I tend to lay back when racing anything else like open wheelers. I like my desk chair because it gives me the flexibility to do both.

Is your desk chair a low back model? Maybe a high back chair to spread the load along your entire back would help.

I personally use something similar to this...

I started out by making a wooden base that tilted back as desired. Just throw it in the closet when your done. Great starting point for a full-blown sim cockpit!

A while back I ran 4 events in one day (5 hours of racing, plus practice) with no seat related discomfort at all.

On most desk chairs the wheels are easily removed. You should spend as much as you can afford on a good chair to help your back.
