Personally, I would go with a FREX wheel/shifter kit if you want to go the controller route (that'll pretty much cost you $400), but if you want to go the hardware route, the 8800GTS is a good call and save the other $180 for something else (the 8800GTS will give you such an improvement you'll be smitten for months :P). BUT you may want to wait a month or two for the next wave of GPUs to come out, they will drive prices down on old models. |

Well you've got a little better setup than I do, but I'm trying to get an ozone cockpit with my $ haha. Sent in an email last week, havent heard back yet. I suppose thats what I'd recommend, but I don't have experience with those nice shifter kits or the new gfx cards. |

I'd have to agree with Scott on this. The 8800 over the 7900 would be a good upgrade and leave you with some spare change. Use the extra in a couple months and pick up a 22" LCD (you can find them in the $300 range now) and free up a whole lot of desk space. Dont bother getting a clutch, they really have minimal use in sim-racing. |

Yeah I didn't see you mention the clutch. Tim is right, don't bother. The only time a clutch is really of any use at all is getting off the start and button is a much quicker (and in many cases more realistic) way of doing it. |

You need the clutch to get off the line quickly, auto clutch does a miserable job even with a well matched 1st gear. Also helps get out of the kitty litter more quickly when punted. In the real world, even On/Off racing clutches still have some ability to slip as needed. And drag racing is all about finding the right amount of slip -- and that's basically what you're doing from a Standing Start. Can't tell you how many times I got out of a bad qual position going from 10th to 5th or 8th to 3rd. Easiest way to make up positions vs. doing it on track where passing someone without contact takes considerably more effort. The 9800GTX is supposed to be out any day now. They just released the 9600 last week and the 9800GTX should follow shortly. |

Anyone using Track ir4?? I saw on srt there review of it and was looking into one of those as an option or do I just go with a 22-26 inch lcd. What do you guys suggest? I can probably sell the lcd to the wife if I can move it around and watch TV on it also...
My race rig is large and bulky and the wife is complaining. I have it postioned so the door can't close...smart thinking on my part, because she asked how much the obutto rig cost and what size it was and if it can fold up.... Wifey works in the Insurance business and the lovely bonus that they get yearly is staggering. I get a bonus and I can buy a few 30 packs....LOL All you single guys out there, listen up. You don't have to be a sugar daddy, marry a sugar mommy!!!!! |

Rob, thats solved simply by turning off auto-clutch and using a button. You don't need to use slip off the start in anything other than a drag car, just modulate the throttle. |

Just read an article on the new 9600's gc's. 3DGuru tested 6 gc's. Looks like the 8800 GTS still own the day. Now do I go with a 8800 gts for $300 + or go with a 9600 gt OC for $220????? |

After looking at prices and benchmarks, I'll probably go for a stock mildly-overclocked 8800GT 512, they look pretty decent and are only something like 230$, have pretty good benchmark scores (better than the 9600 in every way at barely any price difference)
