Last month when many of us NorCal members got together we discussed a future get together at a NASA event. We had 16 or 17 of us all come out for a night karting, lets see what we can do with some real horsepower!

Tentatively I am scheduling this for the weekend of...
August 23-24 @ Thunderhill Raceway Park
All regular NASA race groups, HPDE, and TT groups will be running. Hyperdrives will be offered both days. Additionally, Porsche Racing Challenge, Camaro Mustang Challenge, American Iron West, and Factory Five

All members of the community are welcome to attend. R2P member or not... if you are into sim-racing and want to hang out for a weekend at Thunderhill Raceway with a bunch of racing nuts then this is for you. We will be at the track all weekend (Fri - Sunday).

Cost
- Your own travel, food, lodging costs
- Driving in HPDE is $159 per day or $299 for the weekend

My goal here is to get as many of us on track in HPDE or Time Trial runs. I don't care what state you are from, if you want to come out to California then bring your track-day car.

I will be happy to offer up either of my two track-worthy cars and may be able to get a few more cars from local NASA racers and teams. If you would like to drive in HPDE or TT, we need to get our entries to NASA by the end of March at the latest.

If you would like to drive and have never been to a track day before, see www.nasaproracing.com for more details. It is very simple; Become a NASA member, have a safe car, and get ready to drive!

Anyone that would like to fly in would choose to fly into Sacramento, CA. I will check on accommodation's near th track (there are not many), but my plan would be to camp at the track.

More info to come...

The start of a list:
Tim McArthur (Spectate) I have Datsun 280z & BMW 325is available
Conor McCarrell (HPDE 1&2)
Steve Wood (Vette - HPDE?)
Rob Ainscough (Lotus - Time Trials)

HPDE NOTICE: Prerquisites.pdf
If you are experienced in another racing organization, NASA usually allows you to go straight into a higher HPDE group.

HYPERDRIVES:
NASA Hyperdrive is a way for a non-members to experience HPDE 1 (with an instructor), without having to commit to an entire event. Hyperdrives are one 20-minutes session, on track, at speed, with an instructor riding in the passenger seat. Convertibles need roll bars. All drivers must be 18 years. Helmets and seat belts are required. Passengers other than the instructor are not permitted. Passing is permitted only on straight sections of the track and with permission or direction of the instructor.

You can make the drive out Shane. In fact i am hoping that some of you non-CA members would be willing to come on out for a weekend. Sure will be a ton of fun!

If I have my Spec-944 build done by then, I might just have to make the tow out from Denver. And if not, I'd even consider driving my 2007 NASA Rocky Mountain Division TTC championship-winning 350Z out, running in Time Trials, and getting my butt kicked by some of those super-fast West-Coasters I hear so much about...either would be a blast!

I've always wanted to drive some of those great NorCal tracks, and this would be a great opportunity to scratch one of them off the list and meet some fellow R2P-ers, to boot.

Just one question, Tim - is this event at Infineon or Thunderhill? Both are mentioned in your first message, and I just want to clarify.
Edit by TM - ThunderHill, sorry for my typo.

I am so there. I might have my Corvette ready by then, but doubt it. The HPDE thing sounds interesting. I drove my Vette at Bremerton at the SCCA solo 2 event in 2002...it was a blast.
