Jeremy, in the RSC thread you didn't answer the question about whether you are using the new Digital DTH2Go or the old Analog TH2Go...I'm guessing you have the new DTH2Go because that's what the LCDs will work best on. I'm using the DTH2Go myself and there's been two major problems: 1. When running full screen programs such as computer games like Team Fortress 2 and Enemy Territory Quake Wars...DTH2Go always displays it in the left monitor instead of the center monitor. 2. When the computer has been asleep overnight the DTH2Go will not wake up...resulting in blank screens and having to hard boot the computer. But, there is now a fix available. First you need to get a ClientID at http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/contact/home.php?section=clientid and register your device. Next you have to call their support line (they are so backlogged on checking their online support requests that my request over a month ago has never been answered). The number is (514) 685-0270 and they are open M-F 9 to 5 Eastern Time. And finally, you need to ask for both firmware updates and the technician will require that you download and install a program that allows them to take over your computer...it's their rule for first time firmware updates...after that the user will have the necessary stuff to do it themselves. But, for the first time they said it's their policy to have their technicians perform the update. But, if you really really want to do this yourself and take the risk then I can make them available for you to use. Without the firmware updates I was having to unplug my middle monitor and plug it into the second output port of my graphics card, just so I could have something to use when my system woke up so I can do a soft reboot and to use for full screen apps to appear on my middle monitor, but when I wanted to do surround gaming I had to plug it back into the DTH2Go. And lastly, 3840x1024 is too much even for my 3.0Ghz dual core with 2GB RAM + 8800GTS system...I get serious frame rate issues with it that high...though I admit that turning off shadows and other features will probably make it OK. I have to run everything at 3840x800 if I want all the eye candy. If you are going to build a new system then be sure to get a motherboard which has memory slots for DDR3 and bus speeds up to 1333, for example the new Intel DX38BT which you can see details at http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DX38BT/index.htm |
