Setup Development Tool

The use of this tool is fairly straight forward and simple. You could treat it as a crew-chief or engineer, who will inform you on what you might want to do to better your setup. Simply answer the questions and your "engineer" will provide you the answers.

Included in each section are "pop-up" text boxes (noted by the red markings) that will give you further information about the changes you are about to make. They are only brief comments, but you can find more information on each item by reading the Setup Development Articles at Race2Play.com

Some of the answers you provide will be displayed from a top-down view of your car. Each corner of your car is represented with multiple suggestions being displayed for each corner of the car. Pay attention to which suggestion you may want to try first, but others are supplied for further refinement of your setup.

Tim,

This tool looks awesome, thanks for releasing it. I'm certainly looking forward to trying it out!

I need to mention though, that when opening "Race2Play Setup Developer.xls" for the first time, I received the following error dialog:

Compile error in hidden module: DigXlsAlugen

I used to have a 3rd party plugin for Excel called DigDB installed, which is the first thing that came to mind when I saw the above message, but I uninstalled that plugin a couple of months ago when my subscription to it expired and I decided not to renew.

I haven't plugged any values into the Setup Dev tool yet, so I don't know whether or not this error actually hinders anything or has any kind of adverse effect on functionality... I just wanted to make this known.

Edit by TM - Thanks Chris. I think that is a remnant of the same tool on my PC. It is a tool to convert XLS to EXE which I was considering before I realized you still needed Excel for the EXE to work. No reason at that point so I too un-installed it. I will work on clearing that out when I update the file in the future.

Edit by CC - 10-4 Tim, thanks for the quick followup.

OK I guess I am an idiot but how do you type in the yellow boxes? I cant even get past what type of car are we setting up lol. On the top it says Race2Play Setup Developer [Read-Only]Do I have to do something else?

Thanks Tim for your work on this and at R2P. Now if you could only fix stupid I would be set.

The "Start the setup process" "Go to next" "clear this page"
buttons dont seem to work

Jeremy,

Save the XLS file to your computer (un-pack it from the ZIP file) and you will then be able to "open" it, not just "read" it.

The buttons do not work because you are not allowing those macros to be enabled. You ca set your security in Excel options to allow them if you like. Otherwise, the rest of the tool functions normally without them if you prefer not to have the macros. This too may be a result of your "read only" access.
