The North American Sim Racing League chapter at Race2Play is proud to announce the NASRL Vintage Historics Spring Session featuring the Power & Glory V2.1 mod for GTR2.
Join us on select Sunday nights this winter at 9:30 eastern US time for a full season of 8 events beginning April 19.
Race Format: Races will be a fixed number of laps approximating 50-60 minutes. We will run at 2x fuel, which will make pitstops necessary for all cars. A 10 minute qualifying session begins at 9:30, followed by a 2 minute warmup, then a standing start, unless a rolling start is required by track limitations; check the prerace thread of each event for further info.
Backup Tracks: Each season, a few of the tracks in the schedule will be new tracks where we've never raced P&G before. If we have unexpected problems with the track during the week leading up to the race, we may substitute a backup track, which will be an original GTR2 layout (not an add-on track). Notice will be given in the chapter and pre-race forums if possible, but be aware it could happen right up to the last minute. Familiarizing yourself with the backup track during your spare time may be to your advantage in the event it gets activated. The replacement race will be counted for points. Our current backup track is: Magny-Cours National.
Eligible Vehicles: This session features all Group 3 GTs (over and under 2L). The Group 3 class includes the Renault Alpine, Lotus Elan, Lotus Elite, Shelby Cobra, Austin Healey 3000, Chevrolet Corvette, Ferrari 250 SWB, Ferrari 275 GTB, Jaguar E-Type, Shelby Daytona Coupe, Shelby GT350, and Triumph TR-4. No duplicate cars will be allowed, and further, no more than 3 cars of any particular model will be allowed. There will be a sign-up period following the March 30 fun-run to pick a single car to drive for the entire series. Drivers will have the opportunity to post their top 3 preferred cars (make and car #). Selection order will be determined by reverse points standings from the concluded S11 winter session, then by sports car rank (lowest to highest), or finally by random selection for unranked drivers. Drivers will be allowed to change cars once during the season if unhappy with their assigned car.
Rental Points: NASRL's S12 Spring Session will not be using the rental points system, all drivers will drive their assigned car for the duration fo the season.
Our usual rental points procedure is listed below for future reference. We are not using rental points for this session. NASRL P&G seasons feature a rental points system similar to the GT-Historics system in use here at R2P. Drivers start the season with 5 points. Each car costs a certain amount of points to "rent" for a race- that amount is deducted from the driver's total. Rental costs for each car are posted in the Rental Points thread. At the end of the race, each driver is awarded new rental points based on finishing position. 1st-3rd place gets one point, 4th-5th place gets two, 6th-7th gets 3, 8th-9th gets 4, and 10th place and below are all awarded five points. Rental points are cumulative for the season. You must make sure you have enough points to rent the car you bring to the line. Current rental points standings will also be maintained in the Rental Points thread.
Championship Scoring: Championship points will be awarded according to finishing order from 1st place to 15th as follows: 20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1.
Membership: NASRL at R2P is an independent chapter. Our races will not be stewarded. Participation is by invitation only, and will be limited to 24 drivers per event. Please consider whether you will be able to commit to the majority of the events before asking to join up.
Membership is open to basic (free) NasaSimRacing/Race2Play members. NASRL encourages paid membership, most of us find the quantity of racing available and level of support to be well worth the monthly investment. Read more about R2P membership plans here: Membership Plans.

Rules & Etiquette: NASRL membership is all about clean and courteous racing- drivers are expected to be able to hold their own line, to value a clean close race well above winning at all costs, and to maintain a positive attitude about the inevitable racing incident when it happens.
It will be up to the drivers to request reviews of any racing incidents. Review requests can be sent privately to Michael Kolar. We don't expect to get a lot of review requests- we like to maintain a club atmosphere and encourage on-track behavior and attitudes that won't lead to reviews. A pattern of review-worthy incidents with any particular driver will call some question on whether that driver really belongs in this chapter.
This chapter will follow R2P rules and guidelines. The punt rule is in effect; if you touch a car in front of you, and the other driver spins or leaves the track, a drive-through penalty applies, and should be served immediately. Our only exception is in qualifying: drivers are allowed escape and rejoin the track to continue qualifying after an incident.
Required Files: This series requires the Power & Glory mod V2.1, available here: GTL Workshop. The standalone installation option is required. This mod is very sensitive to other mods and to extra cars. Please perform the standalone installation, and don't add any extra cars. Also, you must install the P&G Terrain Patch (it comes with the mod). This patch will cause mismatches with standard GTR2 servers, which is another reason you should perform the standalone install. Most P&G public servers are not using the terrain patch, so you may need to uninstall it to race on other P&G servers. The patcher utility is stable and easy to use, so it isn't difficult or risky to switch back and forth.
Even with a proper installation, the mod can still sometimes be a bit instable, especially when changing sessions. Be aware that there's always a chance someone will be dropped at race start; it doesn't happen every time, but it does happen. It's no fun when it happens to you, but consider yourself warned and try to be understanding- apparently that's the price we pay for a free and otherwise outstanding mod.
