Hi,all

The credit system will be based on the FLOG 1979 series with some changes.

The goal is to emulate the weight penalty systems that exists in many racing series today to even out the field.

When the season starts you'll get a certain amount of credit points.
Each car will have an amount of credit points assigned to it. If you have less credit than this limit you're not allowed to pick the car.

If you score points your credit will be reduced. The more you win the slower car you'll need to pick for the next race.

This is the list of cars. The car requiring most credit points at the top:

Williams FW07

Ligier

Ferrari T4

Lotus 80

Renault RS12

Lotus 79

Brabham BT49

Renault RS11

Tyrrell

McLaren M29

Brabham BT48

Arrows A2

Wolf

Alfa Romeo

McLaren M28

Ferrari T3

Arrows A1

Williams FW06

Ensign N179

Rebaque

Fittipaldi

Renault RS01

Shadow DN9

ATS

Merzario

Ensign N177

McLaren M29 and the Lotus 80 have been changed compared to Flog 1979 so far. This list is preliminary .
The amount of credit assigned to the cars and each driver is still being evaluated.

Sounds pretty good, but one concern I have is that people will miss a few races, and then they will have unintentionally "saved up" for the fast cars at the end of the season. So we could see a lot of Williams at the final races.

Instead of starting the season with the maximum number of credits, have you considered the possibility of earning a certain number of credits by showing up for races? That way you wouldn't be left with extra credits by missing races.

For instance you could start the season with 200 points (enough for a Williams), and then earn 100 points (enough for a mid-pack car) for each race you show up at.

Usually credits are removed for any races missed.
For any drivers, old or new.

eg A new driver turning up at mid season has 'used' HALF the original credits automatically.

The amount you lose per race (when not raced) is the also generally the middle value car.

eg 400 pts total credit for a season, 10 races, you lose 40 pts for any/every race you didn't do.

The mid level car would likely cost 40pts... top ends far more, lower ends far less....

If people miss races or join late in the season they've also missed an opportunity for a win. So I don't see that as a problem.

I know the Williams is a very capable car even in the hand of slow guys like myself :-)

So I want to make sure the system will push people into a slower car relatively fast, meaning you won't be able to score many points before it will be to 'expensive' to pick.

A good example is the race we just had at Buenos Aires, where Roberto won in an M29. I like that. And it's things like that I'd like to see more of.

Honestly I'd like to completely ban the FW07,but that's probably not a good idea either.

Thats not really the point Christian. The point is that if we have a bunch of people only show up for one race then they will just use the Williams and get an easy win, while the rest of the regular season folk are stuck in mediocre cars and can't compete.

Well, its only a suggestion, but hows about that:
Take the FW07, Ligier, Lotus 80, FT4 and the RS12 out of the pool for the whole season.

That just leaves a new "top" car if we do that.

If folks miss races, then they're potentially hamstringing themselves for the championship title anyway. The guy that shows up and gets on the podium for the entire season is going to beat the dude who runs only half the season and wins each time in his Fw07.

Non-issue. My understanding of the credit system:

You have a set amount of credits at the start. If you don't score points, you get those credits back. If you do score points, you don't get all your credits back. Diminishing returns.

So someone who runs 50% of the races and wins each time will still be in a shit car at the end of the season. If things work out correctly, we'll all be running bottom of the barrel rides at the end of the season.

What's up with reinvention of hot water? Credit system has been proved both here and on FLOG. Dunno why all the fuss.

Scott: Not a problem . You can't win a championship by showing up for one race even if you win that one race. I don't see that as an issue.

If people score points the credit will be reduced and I don't intend to give any points back.

I want it to be like this ,I'll use Roberto as an example:

First race Roberto picks the Williams and wipes the floor with the rest of the drivers.

His credit is reduced,so for the remainder of the season he can't pick the Williams.

At the next race Scott might pick the Williams and beat Roberto which is now in a Ligier. Roberto gets 2nd place.
Scott's credit is now reduced so the Williams is not available for him anymore and since Roberto got 2nd place he's not able to pick the Ligier anymore..

Hope that made sense..

The thing is, I don't want a system like the FLOG series had which will treat everyone the same.
I don't care if half the field choses the FW07 as long as they don't score points. If you score a certain amount you will be forced into something slower.

Even if I had picked the FW07 for the race on Sunday I would have had a hard time competing with Roberto in the M29. Allen is better driver than me and he couldn't keep up,but his laptimes were very close. it had the potential for a great battle . And that's what I like.

I don't think it would work just banning certain cars,it would still be a problem with some cars being faster.

I think banning certain cars for the rest of the season is a bad idea, but the rest sounds good, but then you might as well just make things simple use the credit system we currently have in GT-H.
