Everything depends on what your definition of gaming seat is and does. If I may just give you one Idea of the hundreds out there...This is my website...Options, Options, Options :) www.rfaction.net |

I've seen this seat in real and don't think much of it. Very lightweight stuff. Bet it will bend when I mount my ECCI-wheel on it. :-) |

If you're always going to be using a store-bought wheel (and pedals), I think it could be a viable solution. If you ever plan on using some higher-quality upper-end sim hardware (particularly pedals), save your money. I made my entire racing rig for less than the base Playseat costs - their monitor stand, keyboard mount and 'deluxe' base are all extra - and designed it to be pretty much exactly what I wanted, within my extremely basic design and building abilities. |

The Evolution version of the Playseat looks a lot sturdier than the original Playseat. Unless you want to design and build your own (like I'm doing - it's a work in progress) this looks like a viable alternitive to the much more expensive models out there. Jeff has a very cool product which would work well where you don't want to have a totally dedicated hunk of hardware in you room. Here's another alternative designed by a "real" race car driver... |

Thanks, folks. I would be interested in "rolling my own" if I had more time. As it is, I barely have the time to practice and race. It just seemed that for about $350 (including the G25 shift mount) I could have a decent, if not optimal, race seat. The cost (within reason) is less of an issue than my time, actually. Of course, then I would want THtG or a larger monitor... :-) Bill |

Hi William,
Great link for ideas:
One of my favorites:
And I really like Chris's also, especially the rear speaker setup (which I will attempt to recreate on mine). |
