PLEASE REVIEW THE FOLLOWING R2P POLICIES which apply to PRACTICE, QUAL, AND RACE.

Rough Driving In a nutshell, don't f*ck around

Passing/Being Passed The responsibility for the decision to pass another car, and to do it safely, rests with the overtaking driver.

Punting Any driver who "punts" another car, either off track or into a spin, at any time during the race, must serve a drive-through penalty (in addition to any stop for repairs) for each instance. You may not be informed of this penalty by the Steward, but you are still required to serve the drive-through. Failure to serve the penalty will result in a minimum of 1 lap deducted from your finishing position.

Right to the Line The driver in front has the right to choose any line, so long as not to be considered blocking

Blocking Blocking is defined as two (2) consecutive line changes to "protect his/her line", and in doing so, impedes the vehicle that is trying to pass with each of the two (2) consecutive movements.

Season 7 Watkins Glen stirred some debate on mixed class racing. For those new to mixed class racing, I hope this clarifies any misunderstandings you have.

Please refer to: 25.4.1 - Passing / Being Passed

On page 3 of the Watkins Glen post-race , Tim posted a very black-and-white summary of passing and being passed. Here is the excerpt:

1) Blue flags are advisory only at R2P. Since GTPC follows the R2P regulations, faster cars/drivers just have to accept that. If you are a faster driver or in a faster car, you have to wait until a legitimate passing opportunity is available. It doesn't matter if you are racing for the lead or not or if you may lose that lead or not.... it doesn't matter at all.

2) It is always the responsibility of the passer to make the pass cleanly, never the guy being passed. There is no such thing as someone "cutting across your nose", you simply picked a dumb place to pass that's all. Accepting that responsibility, apologizing, and learning from your mistakes will go much further then trying to cast, redirect, or share the blame. Blame is ALWAYS on the passing car so we all already know who is really to blame.

3) There is never any good excuse for putting someone off track when trying to pass them, especially if they are in a different class of car. The only reason for it is because you chose a poor place to pass and your execution of the pass was even poorer.

-----------------------------------------------
Here is what NOT to do (and how to get Penalized/DQ'd):

"I just had XYZ on my ass, and one slip would have meant he would have been by. if you just "wait" for the car in front, the car behind you will jump at that chance, and pass you. and that wasn't going to happen. I also argue that you turned across on me. if I wasn't having to push so hard, I wouldn't have had to take that chance, and could have just waited, but XYZ was pushing me to my limit."

"...and I know I'm driving a "much faster" car and everything, but it doesn't mean that you can hold us up. I think it should be up to the slower cars to move out of the way. that's the way they do it in F1 and real life, so why not here?"

"we normally DON'T want to make risky movies, or "do or die" passes. but when someone is on our ass like that, we have to get by, period. that's where the flashing lights come in, and everything. I do that to let the car in front of me know that I'm going to get by on the next corner, so don't turn across me. or if I'm flashing it wildly when I pass them (on and off a billion times), I'm probably pretty peeved that they held me up."
