Ok, so it's even earlier :)

Thanks to some groundwork data-gathering by Pete, I've been working on a well-matched group of cars for the fall season. Here's what I've come up with. In my hands, the following group of cars are all within a couple of seconds of each other:

Alfa Romeo GTA Volumetrico
Shelby GT350 SCCA
Ford Falcon Weslake
Jaguar E-Type LW 4spd & 5spd
Shelby Cobra Roadster
Ford Falcon Mann
Corvette Z06
Mustang Trans Am
Ferrari 250 Competizione
Corvette L76 Roadster #006

As you can see, this would be quite the diverse group on track, while still even more closely matched than this season. Strengths and weakness will continue to vary from track to track, though with a little less radical swing between power and handling. Car selection would work the same as it did this season- I've enjoyed working with the same car every week and refining a setup as I go.

We'll set up a couple of fun-runs for August and early September to shake out any outlayers.

Any comments, or movements to do things differently this fall?

Can we throw in one or two special events using different cars. Say one using the scary 427 Cobra and another using the IROC Porsches?

Good idea mike, it's definitely time for another IROC event.

I like the way things worked this year with car selection (of course I got a Vette) but one thing to consider as you do that. In hindsight I benefitted from not being active in the series prior - I didn't run all of the events so my finish was lower as a result. I like the idea of order of finish, but rewarding the people who run all of the events - especially those who show up every week in a less than competitive car. I would use a person's average finish position as the draft order and if there isa tie the higher pick goes to who drove the most races the previous season. Using this method (just as an example) Ricardo Werther would move from the 6th draft spot down to the 15th spot because his only race gave him 10 points. The revised draft order would be:

Initials avg points # races
BD______________4___________2
GW______________5___________3
JS______________5___________1
FZ______________5___________1
MC______________5.5_________2
GH______________6___________1
BA______________6.5_________4
LL______________7___________5
BK______________7___________3
JB______________8___________3
CP______________9___________4
EJ______________9___________1
ME______________9.4_________5
PS______________9.5_________4
RW______________10__________1
RN______________11.8________5
MK______________13__________5
MR______________14.4________5
MM______________15.6________5
BE______________17.6________5

The significant shifts affect RW, EJ, and GH.

Good thinking, Ray. The way your table shakes out today makes good sense as I look at the driver names.

I like the breakdown Ray... Due to my poor choice in cars this season. The Shelby turned out to be one of the weaker cars in the brakes and handling department but high on the mph. My own problem as I didn't test enough and didn't bump during the bump process. I love the selection of cars and hope there are no Fuji's on our track selection!!!!

Any other votes for that? I know not everybody likes to race at 9-min lap tracks.
