Race report
USA F3: Montreal on Jun 07, 2007
Car: Formula 3 '06. Class: Formula 3. Start: 13. Finish: 8. Laps: 27.

I had an exciting last lap. I thought I had lost my opportunity to score a point when I bobbled exiting the second chicane on my 20th lap allowing Zach to get by for 8th place. From then on I just cruised around in 9th, occasionally getting lapped, until I came for the white flag and saw Vincent who had been running in 7th coming out of the pits.
I had Jim Day who I had just seen come out of the pits on the previous lap right in front of me and Peter Valkovic in 3rd trying to lap right behind me. I thank Jim for moving over to give me a chance to race for position.
I stayed to the outside exiting the first chicane and Peter got by quickly on the inside. Peter then got around Vincent coming to the bridge. My heart was pounding as I was about a half second behind Vincent coming up to the hairpin. Then Vincent locked his brakes coming into the hairpin and ran wide and I was able to sneak by on the inside and take the spot.
I had a strong feeling this wasn't the end of it and sure enough Vincent closed the gap and got past me on the straight. However he hit the brakes earlier than me and I got back by just in time to make my turn into the final chicane. I still had a strong feeling this wasn't over yet ans sure enough I experience a bump going through the chicane. Luckily it just tire contact and I got through headed down the final straight for the checkers. However Vincent still wasn't finished and once again he was closing in on me. Luckily I got to the flag first, a full .039 seconds ahead.
I've got to hand it to Vincent for running a great race. I know if must have been a real heartbreaker for him. I spent just about all the first half of the race chasing him around the track until I made my pit stop.
Congrats to the podium and looking forward to Silverstone!
