Race report
Phoenix Legends on Dec 11, 2008
Car: Legends F34. Class: Legends. Start: 7. Finish: 2. Laps: 50.

A race I have no business being on the podium... but hey I'll take what I can get. :-)

Qualy: I didn't qualify as I knew I was slower than most and it was a small field. I also planned to dive into the pits as the race went green.

Race: While developing a setup, I noticed that the starting fuel you could set was significantly less than what you could add in a pit stop. I had also noted that a full "Starting Fuel" was going to be insufficient for 50 laps, so a plan formed in my head... I would max out my starting fuel (25L) and dive into the pits as the race went green. The fuel only pit stop to get me to enough gas for the entire race (about 30L) should be short as I only needed to add about 5L of fuel, and the other cars wouldn't be quite up to speed yet. I came out, still on the lead lap, but only few seconds ahead of the incredible battle the leaders were having. When they caught me I tried to make sure I made it easy to get by so as not to interfere with their race. I got to watch the battle slowly recede into the distance for quite a few laps after. Anthony Peeler came up on me in the later stages and again I didn't fight too much, as technically, I was being lapped. Anthony spun after he got by, though, so I unlapped my self from him. After David Ulmer had pitted and remained in front of me, I knew a win was out of the question, so I tried to make the most of it. I probably would have been third if Garry hadn't wrecked late in the race.

The only downside was I was racing alone most of the race.
