Hes got decent footwork, although from what I saw, his top end is good although not all that impressive.

Yeah this clip is brief. You gotta love the progressive rock sound to like this guy. He bangs out some serious off beat stuff. There are some songs where the beat patterns change throughout the entire song. I find that to be very difficult, and technical. We saw them live about 6 months ago and i just couldn't stop watching him change drum sets ets. He keeps perfect time with the level of difficulty they play.

Travis Barker from Blink 182 ..he might not be the best, but it's pretty cool to see him having fun with his talent.

LOL It really sucks to be his drum sticks on that last one. I've always loved the sound of those marching band snares. So crisp.

C'mon guys these drummers are a snore --- Youtube anything from Virgil Donati or Omar Hakim.Hakims solo on "Burn for You" with Sting is something to behold & Virgil Donati is commonly regarded as the best modern drummer today by such publications as Drummer World, footwork you wouldn't believe-check out both of these guys first posts on youtube.

Don't want to sound like an a-hole but its a bit of a worry that you fellas actually believe the drummers posted above are actually talented--my how the standard is dropping.
(Christ,I'm sounding like my mother)

Remember the best of the old brigade like Buddy Rich & Gene Krouper commonly used only 4 pce kits & a couple of cymbals & still would blow most drummers out the water today with drum kits that most wouldn't have a clue on how to optimise-mostly all show.

Is Neil Peart of RUSH considered modern? Song after song he puts more different beats in than anyone I can think of.

Best Live Drum Solo I ever saw was a guy from the 60's who ended up with Journey just before they became famous. Carmen Apice. (my gut says he was from Vanilla Fudge but I'm too lazy to check) He would come out from behind the kit and continue the solo from the front without pausing or interrupting his performance.

Fastest Drummer I ever saw was Carl Palmer from Emerson Lake and Palmer. His cross-body drumming was insane. (and I just realized that Carmen Apice & Journey opened for ELP. WHAT a show!) I couldn't believe a headlining act would allow the opening act to put on such an extended and impressive drum display when part of the concept of ELP was the Superior muscianship.

As you can tell, I don't know ANY of these modern guys...and I'm in such disdain of performers being political that I have almost completely stopped purchasing music. This despite being in the Business of Radio for a few years and owning probably close to 500 vinyl albums back in the day.
