The stupidest racing moves

I've racked up quite a few in 7 weeks of racing. Can you beat these? Please share yours so I feel better.

Like:

1. DQ'd for taking a disorientating spin on lap 3 of Toban Short and then taking off the wrong direction as I was more familiar with the reverse layout.

2. DQ'd for noticing a red pit light at the last moment and slamming on the brakes, successfully stopping an inch before the line, but then having the guy behind just tap me over it.

3. DQ'd (today, which inspired this blog) for driving out pit lane on red trying to frantically catch the formation lap that I missed the start of.

4. Stalling, then forgetting which key mapped to start/ignition (not sure if that was the solution but putting it neutral didn't start it)

Man, what a learning curve this sim-racing has.

I once DNF'd from an F3 race because I went to pits and missed my box, than directly drove reverse and was kicked off the session because of wrong way driving lol...

I'm sure I've done loads of these, but here are the ones off the top of my head:

1. DNF on formation lap when I drove into the gravel (from pole), then spun into two other cars rejoining the track, wrecking their races. Apologied constantly for the next week!

2. Outbroke myself into a hairpin, skated across the grass, then forgot I had to dip the clutch to get the thing to stop, so couldn't go slower than 20mph which was just enough to wreck my suspension on the wall which as at least 100m off the track!

3. Leading one of the toughest races I ever did in a slower car than others, and not realising it was the last lap so entered the pits on the last corner because I was spluttering out of fuel. Finished 4th. Swore profusely :P

Yep, been there too Jonty.

I DNF'd, twice now, for being unable to remember which was my ignition button in GTR2. I get all the way to a pit stop (nearly an hour) and cant get moving again! Very frustrating... and twice?

My 2 DNF's; Ran out of fuel on the last lap. Rookie move which has never happend again. And GTR locked up during a pit-stop. Other then that i have had really good luck with hardware.

- Going to hit the Teamspeak button to talk to a fellow racer in GTR 2 and hitting the ESC button instead for whatever odd reason.

- Throwing away what surely would've been my first victory by losing concentration and driving my Protoracer over the cliff at Lienz GP Long.

The cliff--now that's funny...

Thought of another two:

5. I used to accurately calculate fuel (via MoTeC) thinking I'd be racing 2 laps less than the leader. I ran out the first time I was to finish 1 lap behind. I don't know why I worry about saving hundredths of seconds when I lose 5 seconds elsewhere...

6. Did some damage on the warm-up session and pulled into the pits to fix it for the race (not knowing it's fixed automatically). I watched the race start as my pit boys were doing their work.

4. Trusted my brother to do my fuel strategy in an FBMW race i was woefully unprepared for. Went from 21st to 6th then ran out of fuel with 2 laps to go!

What does that mean? In which sim is this the case?

I did your #3 Scott. Man, that is the worst!

Anything else that I was penalized for was purely a misunderstanding on Tim's part. :-)
