Race2Play Special Events
04:27 PM on Feb 04, 2008

Race2Play is pleased to announce our annual special events. These events will mirror the high profile real-world racing events from around the world. From the famous Indianapolis 500 and Daytona 500 to mock endurance races simulating the 12 hours of Sebring and 24 hours of LeMans and Daytona. Even the V8 Supercars Bathurst 1000 race will be run in it's entire length. Run the full distance on your own or search out a fellow sim-racer local to you for real time driver changes in this extreme of all touring car events.

A special event will be scheduled in each calendar month of the year and will vary among all types of motorsports and racing types and may include cars and tracks not normally sanctioned within Race2Play. These same events will repeat the following years. The Race2Play events will be scheduled to start immediately following the conclusion of the real-world event in most cases.

2008 Special event calendar
- 2.4 hours of Daytona (Jan '09)
- Daytona 500 (Feb '09)
- 1.2 hours of Sebring (Mar 15)
- 2.4 hours of Nordschleife (April 20)
- Indianapolis 500 (May 24)
- 2.4 hours of LeMans (June 14)
- Daytona 400 (July 6)

If you have a suggestion for an annual special event, please contact me for consideration. It is preferred to have it simulate a real-world high profile event.

I am currently considering a "Bring Your Own Car" event at Nordschleife (any car supported within Race2Play) to fill in a month in which no real-world series is being run.

This is all rFactor, no other sims?

I knew this would get asked real fast. I should have answered it originally. Primarily rFactor in these events already scheduled due to rFactor's flexibility to simulate the many different types of racing that is scheduled. This does not mean we can not have events held using other simulations, like a full distance Spa 500k using GTR2.

Will there be pre-qualifying style events if there's a lot of demand?

No, we are not planning to have any pre-qualifying events. This is one of the reasons why rFactor is being used as we can have 40 or even 50 cars entered if we really want. Though, there are ways of doing this with GTR2 as well.

Rock and/or roll, looks like you're making R2P the one-stop-shop for all of my online racing! Thoroughly impressed mate!

Finally -:)

and more my suggestions:

- January: Monte Carlo rally (Richard Burns Rally event with some asphalt stages-France, and snowy Finland in combination -:)
- August: 24h Spa with GTR2 (2.4 hours in both class or only GT)
- September: Monza F1 (again rFactor F1 mod and track)
- November: Macau (RACE with track) and alltogether with F3 finale with for example F-BMW or F3000 (all in RACE07).
- December Race of champions with track (indoor real life trac for rF, and head to head battles between drivers, play off system)

(there is also Road Atlanta(Petit Le Mans and Elkhart Lake with ChampCar as solutions)

Spa 2.4h event is better to do with GTR2, IMHO.

Thanks Milan. Surely a 2.4 Hours @ Spa (using GTR2) is highly probably for August, in line with the 24 hour race that weekend.

I was looking at the NASCAR schedule to see if there could be an inclusion of the Southern 500. I figured if NASCAR is too stubborn to bring it back to the Labor Day weekend, then we should. They go to California (August 31st) that weekend (for some stupid reason), so I imagine the Stock Car Challenge will as well. I'd be willing to knock California off and do this as an August event (30th or 31st), and bring the Southern 500 back to labor day!

It'd be grueling as hell, but fun. Anyone else agree?

Wow, this sounds great, exactley what I've wanted! Here are some suggestions:

April: 1000km of Monza (Le Mans Series)
August: 1000km of Nurburgring (Le Mans Series) or 24 Hours of Spa (FIA GT)
November: Macau Grand Prix (F3 and WTCC)

This will be a great addition to R2P, Thanks Guys. Keep up the good work.
