This is from Top Gear's first season, 1996 I think. The interview starts about half-way into the video.

Then later in the show Jeremy puts him outside, in the dark and cold wet evening, and leaves him there alone, so he can see what it is like to be a spectator at a rally event. Later in the show they show Richard Burns on the monitor, trying to keep warm, and a car goes flying by, water spraying all over him. He doesn't make another appearance on the set after that, so we guess he found out what viewing a rally is like from the spectators point of view.
