Last week I finally got a job, after 2 1/2 months or so of looking for work. The hours suck, but the pay is good. I work Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7am to 7pm and Monday 7am to 11am, giving me 40hours in 3 1/2 days, then the rest of the week off. My title is Computer Operator 2. I am in a server room monitoring IBM ISeries (AS/400) servers (these are 'mainframe' computers, for those who don't know what an AS/400 is), we have 2 in this room (plus 8 racks of other servers), plus 5 more AS/400's in another building across the lot. We monitor all of the AS/400's - print jobs, backups, all running jobs, etc. It's a 24/7 shop here, at least I'm not working the night shift. 12 hours at work is a long time, 12 hours between shifts is a short time. But, it's a job and the pay is good, so I'm not complaining. |
Best of luck to ya'. | ||

Congrats Chip! I suppose you'll be wiped out on Monday's but 3 days off is nice. Maybe things won't be as busy on the weekend. | ||
Great news, Chip. Congratulations - I think. |
