YES! I finally have won my first league style race! I can not believe it.... i am just in shock right now still. Way back in January of 2006 i started sim racing with no idea how to drive fast at all.. i did not even know what a racing line was or what the difference between a 4 cylinder or V6 engine was... i just knew that i wanted to do this because i wanted to race cars someday.. this means more to me than going to state in cross country or any other sports related win i have celebrated over the years. This even means more to me than my numerous autocross wins i have taken this year in the SCCA. I really can not believe i got the win. I really have to thank the book written by Ross Bentley as my driving has improved greatly ever since i begun reading it just recently. I stayed very consistent with my driving and watched my tires very closely.. i made sure i had prop [... more]
Well the Rally was this weekend and i was very excited for it being that i am a big tough richard burns rally vet and i should be able to just steamroll the competition with my competitive times.
Well insert mouth in foot because instead of setting my normal paced times i was around 10-15 seconds off EACH stage. I have not run that bad in over a year when i was really getting into playing competitively. Something must be wrong with me or it could be a one off. I do not understand where the other guys get this massive amount of talent but i have to find it somehow because im not going to exit this year without a win. Especially in rally... my true love.
I would like to hear anyones comments on things they did to improve or what really started clicking for them. I feel like i have been presented a hurdle i have not been able to leap for 8-9 months now.
Well my string of bad luck continues. I dont understand how it is with these races lately that i keep having an incident in the first few laps. I qualify and practice with top times especially in F1. A series i used to score podiums on quite easily. Now i cant even finish a fucking race. Every single race theres always some sort of bad luck for me, its not me going slow or my ability to negotiate traffic i just always seem to be the one to get the short end of the stick.
Which never happens to hardly any of the front runners.
I am sick of this.. i have nothing but bad luck everywhere in my life it seems... i have to turn this around but i dont understand how if every race i start someone hits me.. brake checks me... does an incredibly stupid move. Today in F1 i had a chance of 1st-3rd but after the first lap Todd braked incredibly slow for some reason which damag [... more]
2nd place was not bad this week over at Magny Cours in the F3000 race. I tried to get in on other races but way too many people signed up for them. Oh well it was a good week so far....
Then Sunday happened. I had a solid setup and a top 3 time going into qualifying on the F1 race which is my main concentration. I set a goal before the first race to get in the top 5 in overall standings even though i have to miss 2 races. It does not seem like that is going to happen with two DNF's in a row. Sometimes i like to think im the mark webber of sim racing with as much DNF's as i chock up that most of the time are out of my control.
At one point i thought i was ready to win races with fast times and the ability to get 2nd all the time. Now i know that will not happen for a while as there are just too many people out there better than me at the moment. It will take a while [... more]

This lizard engine sounds very exciting and i hope it works very well. It will be good to get away from the traditional ISI engine and start seeing games with a bit of new life in them. This new engine will work with racing to include rallying and motorbikes (I REALLY WANT A NEW RALLY GAME.. RBR is AMAZING but it would be nice to see something updated)
Here is a list of features:
Simulation & Physics
* Reality-based simulation of racing cars.
* Takes aerodynamics, propulsion, tires, traction, wheels, brakes and suspension into account.
* It simulates even the minute details such as weather conditions, tire wear and temperature, fuel consumption and a long list of realistic mechanical failures.
* Included are also driving aids, such as traction control, antilock braking system, steer and stability help.
* The AI supports [... more]
Hey guys i heard from a tester for Race 07 that they have fixed a lot of the issues at the start of the races (sync..discos...FFB loss.. etc) and are getting ready to release the patch soon. The team also knows that the pit system is very flawed. They did not put a lot of time into it because basically.. its a touring car game and touring cars dont make regular pit stops.
I know the game is a lot of fun for everyone and i can feel a general all around frustration at the game for a number of issues. On one hand the game is a blast and another it is just terrible. There should be a patch coming out very soon to help alleviate a lot of these issues so do not give up on it yet.
By the way.. i heard the next RACE is leaving the ISI engine and going to a completely new kind. Simbin is creating their own.. should be interesting!
Frustration has hit me. This past month has been nothing but DNF's and just very bad luck. Since starting sim racing in mid 2006 not even knowing what a racing line was i became hooked and was eager to win. I have won on public servers but most of the people on them dont know what they are doing anyhow. I have never won a league or event race and it has started to become an obsession. Even in leagues outside of R2P i get 2nd... 3rd.. but never the win. These past two races in F3000 have been an almost shoe-in for me winning but for some reason the one time i lose my car is when im in the lead or fighting for the lead. I guess it is something i need to learn to not get so excited. It does not feel like i am getting excited when im driving though. I just cant figure this out. I have the speed and i am able to do this but i screw myself hard in the end. I know it is just a [... more]
