Cutting Back
Jul 05, 2008

As many of you folks know, I've been suffering a frozen shoulder for the past 3 months or so. By trying to take the strain off that I then found myself with tennis elbow. Now, tring to protect them both, I have a very painful wrist & hand. Having just finished the GT-O race, my left arm is just about seized solid. Bugger, what next!
Anyhow, I've really got no choice but to cut back on activities until things improve. Last time I had this, in my right arm, it took over a year to fix. So I shall limit myself to just 3 series this season, GT3 Cup, GT-O and the Friday night GT-Thingy. Sad to say that those more physical events, GT-Enduro, ARCA Showdown, LMP series and RBR will all have to take a back seat.
I shall miss racing with all you guys in those series, especially the ARCA mob, but as you can imagine, turning left all the time is not good!

Sport The Difference
Jun 17, 2007

I got to thinking about some of the differences and similarities in sports each side of the Atlantic -

You have Baseball, we have Rounders - played by a bunch of girls!
You have Basketball, we have Netball - played by a bunch of girls!
You have Gridiron, we have Rugby - played by real men without the make-up and padded bras!

There is one near match, though -

You have Soccer, we have Football - both played by a bunch of girls!!!

10000-100
Jun 03, 2007

Sometime in the last week or so I tipped myself over the 100 races and 10,000 mile markers. Bloody hell, I hadn't even noticed!!!

Season 5
Apr 11, 2007

Glad to see so many people upbeat about the S5 announcements. Over at OTHR, however, things are looking rather more glum. German team boss, Herr Geddem Orf, is far from happy, faced as he is with a garage full of useless machinery. A pair of '79 Renaults, V8SC Fords, Seats and a whole host of historic vehicles are unlikely to see action again! So, not wishing to rain on everyone elses parade, what are we unhappy about?
GT-O Enduro G2/G3 meeting - scrapped. That was the better one!
V8Supercars - scrapped
GP-79 Euro - scrapped. This and the above item are the only 2 RF mods this team actually enjoyed driving!
GT-H - moved to late slot. Words can't express how frustrated we are about that one. Actually they can, but none of them have more than four letters!
RF Panoz Enduro to take early Saturday spot. See above comment, then double it. Christ, I've got a wheelbarrow t [... more]

Do I Look Bovvered?
Mar 22, 2007

Ever wondered why the hell you bother with this lark? Right now I'm on the verge of calling it a day & finding something else to pass the time. My race schedule over the past couple of weeks reads like this:-

Sunday 11th GT-X race - Disco'd four laps from the end
Monday 12th Steward - Disco'd mid-race
Wedneday 14th Steward - Disco'd before race started, could not re-connect
Thursday 15th GP-79 Monaco - Could not connect period. Several hours of practice totally wasted
Saturday 17th GT-I Barcelona - Disco'd as qually started, but re-joined OK. Survived the race, though, but it was compromised by having to start bog last.
Saturday 17th WTCC - amazing, no connection problems....apart from other competitors connecting with my rear end!
Sunday 18th GT-X - too pissed off, pulled entry
Monday 19th Steward - Disco'd before race start, could not re-connect
Thursday 22 [... more]

Lady J and the saga of Crohn's
Jan 06, 2007

Never having been one to dwell on the past, Judy now requests that the blog on her recent scare be laid to rest (is there any way to delete blogs?), with thanks to all who offered support.
Having finally been given the all clear for her skin cancer earlier this year and the latest scare done and dusted, it's now back to focusing on her Crohn's disease. Good to hear from Marc, who's colleagues are involved in research from a genetic perspective. Many medics believe there is a link here, though it does require a trigger to set it off. In Judy's case, it was a dose of food poisoning around 20 years ago. Many (unpleasant!) tests and a dose or two of Sir Finn's nuclear shit confirmed the diagnosis.
Symptoms vary from the mild attack (which most times she tries to hide from me, but the hang-dog expression and conversation of short sentences of even shorter words are a sure [... more]

Unwanted Distraction
Dec 11, 2006

A little over six years ago, Judy had a cancerous mole (melanoma) removed, fortunately it had not spread and all was well. Then this morning, following a routine trip to the medic, she was told she **may** have cervical cancer. A scan sometime in the next few weeks will confirm one way or the other.
Anyone who's ever been there can probably relate to the emotions running through my head when she told me. First there's the disbelief, then the blind panic and finally the anger. Anger, not at the disease, but at the doctor who told her this without any hard evidence. Without that scan, the odds are very much in our favour. Don't these guys know that even the slightest hint of the 'C' word can strike fear into even the hardest souls?
The British health service being what it is, it looks like we shall be spending the holidays (and probably a good while beyond) trying to th [... more]
