No GTR2 Server - it's life Jim, but not as we know it!
Aug 12, 2008

So 10tacle have gone bankrupt. And now we have no GTR2 server. I can't log onto Rfactor Central as it won't accept the code I'm putting in either. What a day! Hope it can all be sorted out soon, especially GTR2 server stuff. Because the online bug needs feeding soon - and Rfactor is just not in the same class I'm afraid.

Spa 3 Hours
Aug 04, 2008

The more I race here on R2P the more I want to do only Enduro races. I'm not the fastest, but put me in a car over 2 hours plus and I seem to be pretty consistent.

Probably an age thing!! That's why all retired F1 drivers end up doing Enduro events (off top of head, Wendlinger, Salo, Sarrazin were at Spa 24 Hours this weekend for example). That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!

Will try to add a screenshot from the Spa 3 hours race to the Blog page if I can. It started damp, turned to heavy rain, and as a result the sky was pretty dark for over 2 hours. Fantastic event - EDIT - image added. End of lap 17, hard slicks on but should have headed for Pits - 3 seconds later I (Ferrari 360 GTC) span whilst aquaplaning in a straight line in 3rd gear! Fellow Phoenix Racing team member Chris Galloway went for the pits but slid on entry - it really was that bad!! [... more]

So, a week racing on R2P - what's it been like?
Jul 16, 2008

Addictive, to say the least. Online racing has been quite a revelation. Been offline racing since 2001, and I'm not the fastest by any means. Some events I've had plenty of practice for, others I haven't. But I've enjoyed them all.
So what if I know I'm fighting for a low position - it really is stimulating simply to be racing against something other than computer AI! And learning to set up car (GTR2) for the first REAL time since I have been driving has been really enjoyable.
I just need to sleep more!!! And say hello to the wife more often - lol!

British Grand Prix 2008
Jul 08, 2008

Yes, Lewis Hamilton master class. If ever there was a sign that he has that special talent, this race was it. Comparisons to Senna have been made, and it's no coincidence he has that yellow helmet!

But three wins so far in 2008, two in the wet. Can the McLaren's fight with the Ferrari's on a dry track? Hockenheim this weekend should tell us more - of course if it rains there too, then I would bet a certain Mr Hamilton will again be dominant in those conditions.

Watching the race on TV, I felt homesick. I miss going to Silverstone every year for the GP / test sessions, other meets. We get the ITV coverage here in Australia, so it's almost home from home. By the way, James Allen needs to do his homework. There's more than 6 million viewers watching your coverage mate, as it's not just in the UK that you're seen - lol!

Thanks to Chris Galloway!!
Jun 25, 2008

I'm now in receipt of an early Birthday present in the form of Premium membership!

Looking into setting up a Team, and planning to race in the Series 9 GT3 Cup (Euro) to get a feel for R2P. Two weeks to sort a set up for Sepang, and am quite looking forward to the challenge.

Thanks to Chris Galloway for pointing this site out, I'm very impressed indeed!

My background to Sim Racing has been in GP3 and GP4, racing in LFRS, IGP3C, GPVWC, and F1VWC. But GTR and now GTR2 are the ultimate sims for me at the moment.
