In March of this year, some of you voiced that the protest procedure had some areas for improvement. We made some changes to both policies and the way in which the policies are enforced due to this feedback. The number of protests and penalties have increased since then and some drivers are showing great improvements while others are struggling with accountability.
I hope that everyone understands that our protest procedure and any penalties have a dual purpose, and neither is revenge. The primary purpose is to educate the offenders so they become better and safer racers. The secondary purpose is to ask them to go elsewhere if they continue to disregard our policies. Recently, some members are choosing the later route instead of becoming a better racer. While this is not ideal it is preferred if you refuse to follow the rule [... more]
Over the past year of Stewarding a thousand+ races I have witnessed many different reasons for not finishing a race. Over time, the standard excuses starting getting old so i have begun making up my own to add a little humor to it all...
He left his brain is San Francisco - This is the excuse I give to those that show up to an event without a single moment of research. The driver tends to DNF early in the race. He also happens to be the person asking questions such as; "Anyone have a setup I can use?" and "How many laps is this race?".
Real men don't ask for directions - This excuse is reserved for the drivers that like to come to a race without ever having turned a single lap on track. Turn-1 of lap-1 is usually the time of the DNF as the driver says out loud, "You brake there?". Unfortunately, there is usually one or two others that are answering that [... more]
Finally, I am getting to move out of this state that I refer to as "the sinking ship". I've wanted out of CA for a very long time, and did for one year in 1999, but ended up right back in CA after.
With the mortgage industry falling flat on it's face last year, CA took a huge hit. Tens of thousands of mortgage industry employees in CA alone are now unemployed and killing for any job they can get to support their new H3's and million dollar 2 bedroom condos. My family was hit by this layoff twice in 6 months with the lady losing 2 jobs in that time frame (both in the housing industry). We realized that there was no purpose in finding employment in this state again as it is just guaranteed unemployment within a year or two anyway.
So, with nothing holding this family of three in this state (no jobs, no house, no family, and the worst school system in the country) we hav [... more]
I see this term used left and right in sim-racing. It is not exclusive to Race2Play events as I have heard it for years, well prior to Race2Play ever existing. "Over aggressive driver" or "impatient driver" and even "disrespectful attitude", they are all basically the same thing; An unmeasurable trait that each individual defines themselves.
I have seen many leagues over the past decade try to regulate this personality trait to varying degrees of success, mostly unsuccessful in my eyes. Set aside that this is an unmeasurable item, it is ludicrous to believe anyone can regulate a personality trait, especially in a competitive sport.
There is no black and white defining line of aggression, respect, or patience. We all have our own meaning and measurements of each. For some reason we expect everyone else to have the exact same meaning and measurements which we have. To [... more]
Nov 7th, 1997 was my first ever online race with Nascar Racing 2 on the Total Entertainment Network. Yesterday I celebrated my 10 year anniversary in online motor sports by going to In-&-Out for a cheeseburger and fries :-)
An idea crossed me to "announce" my setup uploads on my Blog so that others may subscribe to this blog and know when new setups are uploaded.
Granted, my setups may not be the best and maybe not even get you to win any races, but I like to build stable setups that I think would be good starting grounds for some.
So, in the next few posts below will be direct links to setups that I have uploaded to Race2Play. You may get them from either the Cars or Tracks pages too. I will also announce when I have uploaded a new setup. If you subscribe to this blog, you will be notified on your HOME page when I make a post here.
When Race2Play opened it's doors this past January, we began a whole new level of sim-racing. International to the extreme and numbers of participants unmatched by any other online racing organization. Along with that doors opening to the public came some new 'rules' to the world of sim-racing that conflicted, or differed, with much of our past sim-racing experiences. At first these new, odd rules were met with some resistance. Now, a half-year later, they have become the norm and have even been adopted in many external leagues.
I thought it was time to explain why some of these odd-ball rules exist at Race2Play and what they are doing for you as the race participants and future real world track-day drivers.

This policy is simple; Safety. When you attend a track-day, HPDE, club event, or even many amat [... more]
Today, July 22, is my birthday. I am now aged a solid 36 years. I expect preferential treatment by everyone for the day :-)
Not only is it my birthday, it is also my sister's birthday (5 years old to the day) and my son's mother (5 years older to the day). The three of us all share the same b-day... freaky huh?
As for presents; I accept Marlboro (by the carton only please), red-heads (female and in pairs only), or petite asians (also female only, but not red-head).
Finally 36... man I hated being an odd-number old. Even numbers are much more soothing.
Back in 1997-98, I created and operated an online drag racing organization (Simulated Hot Rod Association) which, in a matter of 4 months, had grown to over 3000 members and hundreds of races every month (hmmm, this sounds very familiar). Needless to say, I did not have Todd's programming power back then so everything from HTML to stats and email lists were done manually, by hand... my hand! I spent 16 hours a day in front of the PC. It was my full-time self-employment "job" and I treated it as such.
After a few months of this work, my right arm (from elbow to fingers) started going numb. At first I didn't think anything of it, but after a few more days of abuse it went completely numb. I could no longer use the mouse or even type. I received 400 emails a day and the entire organization to run so I couldnt let a numb arm slow me down. I began using my left arm for eve [... more]
Finn got me thinking about my old cars... Here I am, going to type up some biography's on each of them.
