Thanks to Michael Kolar
May 26, 2008

Just wanted to say that Michael Kolar did a great job painting my Formula 1 car...I got a lot of compliments on it. What is the most important part of an organization? What makes Race2Play more fun than many of the other competitive leagues? The people.

Thanks!

Waiting for the diploma
Jun 16, 2007

I did my part...I think. I've completed over 250 semester units, so you would think after spending 20 years in school they could afford to at least send me a postcard the day my final grades get posted. Perhaps a "good riddance" or "we're going to miss you (our targeting module is broken)".

My school doesn't even show a time schedule for mailing out the diplomas. In fact the only mention I could find that they even mail diplomas was a notice that we are not to leave the country until our diplomas are mailed (maybe that was a hint and I should renew my passport pronto in order to make a quick getaway). It's been 3 weeks and I keep checking the mailman and he has yet to have it on him...he's sure to complain one of these days when I frisk him. Is this common for schools to take several weeks to get diplomas out? I need my diploma to work for me...and just when I [... more]

rFactor and GTR2 Engine Spec. Analysis
Mar 12, 2007

I'm just sharing what I'm learning about the different cars available in GTR2 and the F1'05 mod for rFactor. What I've done is create an Excel spreadsheet with some formulas and make a tab for each car then copy the engine file contents into it and do a little formatting.

Basically, formulas calculate the horsepower, then in the next column formulas add up the 4 (5 for rFactor) previous horsepower numbers to get a total horsepower for an RPM range of 1,500 (2,000 for rFactor) RPM which is what is usually geared up for the top gears...it may be beneficial to increase the range that the total HP formulas calculate to compare how long it takes for some engines to develop HP depending on RPM.

In the next column you will find 3 HP spread formulas...the full range, and the two half ranges between the middle and the two ends.

I've also copied the other info in the rF [... more]

After My First Race - comments welcome
Feb 03, 2007

I finished my first race at Barcelona in the Extreme GT class...6th place or somewhere in there. Here's my impressions:

It was a blast! It was a great race. My top thoughts right now is that the start was smooth...from my 9th position start I saw no crashes, no punts, very little bumping, and excellent race spacing.

On a downside there's some people that haven't read the Codes and Regulations

More specifically section: 25.4.1 - Passing / Being Passed
The responsibility for the decision to pass another car, and to do it safely, rests with the overtaking driver. The overtaken driver should be aware that he/she is being passed and must not impede that pass by blocking.

Being La [... more]

Motec logging of GTR2 AI driver performance
Feb 25, 2007

I'm trying to seperate my performance as a driver from the performance of my setup. As such I've been trying to use the AI for testing my setups. It's not a perfect method, but I think it will help a little, and will help more if I can get MoTeC data acquisition working for the AI.

What I've tried is driving 1 lap and then pitting and selected the second driver...who gets controlled by the AI. Unfortunately, MoTeC logging stops after I select the 2nd driver. Does anyone know how to get MoTeC logging for the AI?

Well...I looked in the PLR file and saw that I could select the Starting Driver to be the #2 driver which is controlled by the AI. So, now I don't even have to drive in order to test setups...at least things like suspension and camber which are mostly independent of driver style. I just let the AI drive about 6 laps and see what happens when I make ad [... more]

Introduction
Feb 01, 2007

I thought I would just introduce myself. I own a 75 Stingray and I did one autocross...I loved it! I'm currently a student getting my computer engineering bachelors degree and find GTR2 an awesome simulation which makes me feel like I'm driving my vette. I hope to do some laps with people that enjoy the sport of clean driving and competition.
