2007 Summer Season announced
|
The next 'season' of racing at Race2Play begins in May '07 and will consist of roughly 30 different championship series, some divided into regional divisions. This schedule spans from May through August and already consists of well over 300 events, not including the hundreds more 'fun-run' events that will fill in the schedule. Additions for newcomers
Race tutoring* - (rFactor) Going a step further, Race2Play will hold driving and setup tutoring events. These events will be structured to focus on specific elements of racing and car setup techniques. From the basics of lapping in traffic and passing or being passed, to the more advanced setup changes and how they effect your car. TeamSpeak will be a requirement as instructions will be given via voice, not text chat. Actual NASA instructors will be helping in the tutoring and design of these events. Open Wheel Series
Formula BMW - A great addition to our open-wheel schedule that slots perfectly between FT and F3. FB will have three divisions (Euro, Atlantic, Pacific) and run slightly longer races then FT. Formula 3 - Using the default rF3 cars, F3 is still a very challenging and competitive series. This series will be simplified from the double-race events to a single longer race with pit stops. American and European divisions will be run. Formula 1* - Using the F1'05 addon, Formula 1 will be the premiere Open Wheel series, with full-distance races and all the challenge and drama that comes with it. F1 will operate a single division suitable for Euro and Americans alike. Historic Formula 1* - The GP '79 addon makes a return in two divisions (Euro and American). The ultra-realistic formula cars will race over 100k. Touring Car
Panoz/Porsche Racing Challenge - The new Panoz GTS and the tenured Porsche GT3 will be on track together in a dual-class Touring Car series. The two cars will not compete against each other for points or position, but they will have to share the track and battle amongst each other for racing real-estate. Two divisions split among Euro and Americans are already planned. WTCC '06 - The RACE:WTCC sim is getting some additional support at Race2Play with two divisions (Euro and American). Fast paced sprint races with door-banging action... it doesnt get much better then this for all out action. V8 Supercars* - The V8 series makes the change from rFactor to GTR2 and the GTR2-V8 tracks. The inclusion of the tracks brings a true V8 Supercar feel to this series and the recent fun-runs have shown some awesome action over the 1-hour races. This series will be our premiere Touring Car series running a single division suitable for Euro and Americans alike. Sports Car
Extreme G3 - Building on the popular GT3-Cup series, the G3x series will allow a few additional cars to compete as well. Three divisions (Euro, Atlantic, Pacific) will allow anyone to complete. Extreme G2 - Taking the GTC formula (1-hour race with tire wear multipliers to promote tire changes) and allowing some competition to the BMW will make this a well fought series. Tire wear multiplier will be used over the 60 minute race distance. Three divisions (Euro, Atlantic, Pacific) will allow anyone to complete. Extreme nGT - One of the most popular current series, nGTx expands to three divisions (Euro, Atlantic, Pacific) and given a prime-time slot in the schedule to accommodate everyone. The tried and true formula of 60 minute races with 2X fuel consumption will stay unchanged. Extreme GT* - Again, GTx will run the standard 90 minute format to test the skill and concentration of anyone. Two divisions (Euro, American) will run on a mix of GP tracks as well as some of their shorter "National" cousins. GT-Open - The fourth season for GTO will go back to it's roots as a two-class (GT and nGT), mixed-class endurance series competing over 2-hours races open to anyone that wants to compete in endurance races. Change-able weather and track conditions keep the excitement levels high. GTO will operate a single division suitable for Euro and Americans alike. The G2 and G3 classes have been added to the GT-Open schedule, running just prior to the GT and nGT cars. While the races are shorter, the use of 2-times tire wear and fuel consumption simulate the longer race and keep things action packed. Panoz Le Mans Series - The rFactor World Challenge Series evolves into the Panoz Le Mans Series. Proto-types are out in favor of the Panoz GTR-1. The Panoz GT2 cars will compete on track along side the GTR-1 cars in 2.5 hour races, all of which will end at sunset. Image Space has come on board as the title sponsor of the Panoz Le Mans Series. PLMS will operate a single division suitable for Euro and Americans alike. GT-Invitational* - GTI has been running since 2003 and is going into it's fifth season. A very exclusive series where teams must be invited in. Some of the highest ranking Sports Car teams will be invited into GTI following this season's championship. Rally Racing
